MHA Registration Information:

General Instructions: Please plan on being at NyTex 45 minutes before your group is scheduled to take the ice. All players will fill out registration forms and get tryout numbers at this time. The try out fee is $30 per player. Please plan to pay by cash or check at the time of try outs. After each try out session, players will change into street clothes and then meet with members of the MHA coaching staff to discuss performance, team assignments, and contracts. While we will work as quickly as we can, this process can be lengthy. Please plan your evening accordingly.

8th and 9th Grade Players: Try outs for 8th and 9th grade players will begin at 7:15 and end at approximately 8:15. In select instances, an MHA coaching staff member will ask a 9th grade player to remain in gear to participate in the varsity try outs which begin at 8:30 PM. (AT&T rules exclude 8th grade players from consideration for varsity hockey.) Players will be expected to communicate this additional participation to parents. There will be no fee for this additional tryout session.

10th, 11th, and 12th Grade Players: All 10th through 12th grade players will participate in the varsity try outs beginning at 8:30 PM and ending at 9:30 PM. This does not imply that any individual from the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade group will be selected to play with the varsity team.

Goalies: All goalies are asked to plan to participate in both try out sessions. The MHA coaching staff will determine which goalies are needed for the second session and notify them prior to leaving the ice at the conclusion of the first session.

Player Interviews: The MHA coaching staff will discuss playing assignments with all participants. While we would love it if everyone was offered a contract to join either the JV or Varsity teams at the conclusion of their respective try out sessions, it is essential that the coaches consider player safety, abilities as well as the needs of the teams when making determinations regarding playing assignments. As such, some players may be asked to consider splitting time between JV and Varsity with final roster assignment to be made at a later date. The coaching staff may also recommend further development for some players through participation with the JV Prep Team. No player will be asked to commit to playing on an MHA team before the player and her or his parent(s) have an opportunity to review and discuss the player assignment and contract.

Contract Signing Meeting: All players are asked to attend our Contract Signing Meeting on June 5, 2012. The exact time and site of this meeting will be announced shortly. Our Contract Signing Meeting will include a review of MHA materials (forms, handbook, contracts), player measurements, and contract signings. Contract offers not accepted by the conclusion of the Contract Signing Day Meeting are subject to termination or revision by MHA. If a player cannot attend the Contract Signing Meeting, we ask that you contact one of our board members to arrange an alternate time, date, and location to complete this process.

Please contact one of our board members should you have any questions or concerns about try outs or participation with Mansfield Hockey Association.
